"Universal remedy, fountain of youth, worldwide media with their sensetionalist emphasis made their covers with.
So from week to week, DHEA is a new viagra (TM), a synthetic hormon, a natural hormon...
Lawsuits have already begun with wrong arguments, glossing dangers -especially economic- or immoral immortality...
In handypills lands, vitamins injection and other synthetic anti-oxydants, instead of nutritionnal hygiene and synergic natural complements -however indispensable kees for anti-ageing-
DHEA could appear only as one more molecule...
With this sudden notoriety within the general pubic, confusion and misunderstanding risk about DHEA and its qualities, is maximum...

AT THE POINT OF
VERIFYING THE AGEING ENDOCRINIAN THEORY
PPublished in the minutes of the  American Academy of Science, DHEage, the first clinic study on DHEA (over 280 old persons after one year everyday treatment- made by the Professor Etienne-Emile BAULIEU (INSERM) and Professor F. FORETTE (Gerontology Foundation), in partnership with twenty French searchers, is in the point of verifying the basis hypothesis of the ageing endocrinian theory : a lot of degenerating deseases and functionnal deteriorations result on drop of some hormons production. For the first time, a normalisation indeed an ageing reversal is considered, made possible by hormonal addition
Pr Baulieu

La DHEA has nevertheless already an history :
- Actually, since 1931 the Germain A. BUTERNANDT (the Chimics Nobel Prize, 1939) isolated chimically in urines, under its free shape, the DHEA.
- In 1958, the French Max Fernand JAYLE, Professor of biochimics at Paris Medecine University, shows the decrease of DHEA rates during the ageing (the professor Etienne-Emile BAULIEU was one of his closest pupils)
- In the seventies, course of international studies allow considering potentials offects of DHEA without any definetly prouved action on mankind.
- It must be wait until 1994 when the professor Samuel YEN publishes the first positive tests on mankind.

DHEA  "HORMONS MOTHER"
The DHEA or deshydroepiandosterone(chimical of steroïd hormons) is anti-ageing hormon made from adrenal glands (it was, in 1960, the EE BAULIEU discovery).

It is the prevalent hormon of our body. Doctor W. REGELSON calls it "hormons mother" because our body turns it just into the hormon shape it needs.

It is an essential component on most of physiological functions. The system uses it especially on making sexual hormons as Testosterone, Oestrogen and Progesteron.
Indirectly, adding DHEA may rise the IGF-1 level (de result of the transformation process of growth hormon), which constitutes one of plausible explanations of its health benefits. DHEA circulates in the body principaly under water-soluble shape, sulphate of DHEA (DHEA-S) that we can easily measure by tests (salivary, urinary, and better, blood tests).

courbe dhea
DHEA has normaly a sufficient lvel on people under thirty that should take it only if the analysis reveal a lack or if their therapist recommends it. At fourty, spectacular "mark of age", DHEA level is no more than half of optimum level, and at 75 it has decreased of 80 to 90%.
Circulating rates fall from 5 to 0 % last year of life.
This loss of DHEA with ageing is attributed to 17/20 desmolase and 17/20 lyase enzyme which synthesis, reduced meanwhile we get older, cannot be regenerated or replaced. This phenomenon can be observed through a microscope at reticulated zone of adrenal where DHEA is produced.

As per Doctor WHITAKER, this decline goes with organic dysfonction : a lowed rate of DHEA represents the common factor of all the degenerating phenomena and DHEA would constitute an objectiv and measurable approch of what we could call today "Fountain of Youth".

ACCELERATORS OF HORMON LACK
Drop of DHEA rate is accelerated by,
- taking diuretics,
- lack of anti-oxydants (vitamin C, vitamin E, selenium, magnesium, zinc or cholestérol),
- stresses (caused by operations or of psychic origin : latent depression, indecision, lack of initiative).
DHEA is indeed on reverse relation to production of corticosteroids hormons that are produced by adrenals, and also by the brain, we must not forget ! - by reaction to stresses.
Now those appear as essential factor on the DHEA rate decline, as far back as thirty, it goes with an increased sensitiveness to diseases, as well as acceleration of ageing.

Like this; the more stress we have, the more DHEA decreases. This drop is partially reversible about human being from which the idea of supplementation of this element.

SUPPLEMENTATION OF DHEA
Supplementation of DHEA can begin between 35 and 45 for individuals particularly tired, stressed or immunodepressed.

LThe optimal dosage varies for each person. Way of life, metabolism, and medical records have an influence on the use of supplement. In general, is recommended to women (not pregnant or nursing) to take 25 mg per day and men 50 mg. Taking supplement of these DHEA dosages during a variable time, it is possible to restore optimal rates of serum measured between 25 and 30 years old.

Dr Whitaker, verifiying the whole proved characteristics of DHEA and no toxicity in small quantity (50mg/24h) maintains that it is now impossible to imagine his medical activity without this hormon in his everyday therapeutics.

Extra DHEA, under adviced doses, is for the moment remarkably safety and has produced almost no secondary effect.

MULTIPLE AND SIGNIFICATIV ACTIONS
So the supplementation allows to verify

- Less and even delays on ageing effects : more muscular mass, rejuvenation of skin, protection of neurologic functions, significativ improvment of cognifiv phenomena (Alzheimer and Parkinson disease).

(Dr Kennet BONNET, searcher at psychiatric department at University of New-York has reported the exceptional characteristics of DHEA on persons having short or long term troubles of memory).
- High and quick improvment of energy, vitality and libido level (DHEA precusor of sexual hormons), discernible after only a few weeks on 82 % of women and 67 % of men (from a study made by the University of San Diego, California),
- A better response on stress (comparativ group study) and better quality of sleep
- An increase of immune resistance (virus infections from common cold to herpès) and HIV (stimulation of lymphocytes T by increae of Interleukine 2 (IL2), fight against multiple sclerosis).

- An antidiabetic action.

Arthur Schwartz, searcher at Temple University of Philadelphia proved that DHEA blocked G6PD enzyme, preventing cancerous cellular division from development and adipose cells from proliferation. In his opinion, DHEA is proved to be a fundamental anti obesity agent. In fact, DHEA appears as the first substance tested in laboratory able to provoque an actual fatty melting instead of a weight loss due globally to muscular tissues melting or liquid losses, and this without any change of food habits. DHEA enables muscular  mass, calories being simply converted into heath instead of being fat stocked. In january 1994, Dr Robert Atkins maintained that DHEA had all chances of becoming an important diabetics treatment.
- The peculiar antiatherosclerosis qualities (cardiovascular protection)
A study of Dr Elisabeth Barret-Conner allowed to observe a reduction of cardiovascular diseases of 48 % and a reduction of 36 % of death rate from other affections by taking everyday DHEA. She concluded that DHEA seemed to protect very soon all serious forms of death.
"It was reported that high rates of DHEA and its sulfate would protect from cardiovascular attacks, reduce LDL cholesterol and atherom patches, adhesion of platelets, excess of macrophage and proliferation of cells arterial walls (intima)" Kay-Tedd Khaw, Cambridge (UK).

- « Bony effects recorded (bony density and osteocalcine) bode practical interest of DHEA from prevention and treatment of osteoporosis : improvement of calcium absorption by acting on vitamin D metabolism, so decrease of bony loss" P. DIAMOND

- Modulation of other hormonal functions, that can contribute to reduce troubles associated to male and female menopause.

- Reduction of systemic lupus erythema.

- Slowing up some forms of cancers

(DHEA is a natural substance normaly present in the organisme, necessary for growth and cell multiplication control. It was demonstrated that persons with brest cancer had a DHEA rate specially low)
One of the 40000 studies published on DHEA shows that women which blood rate of DHEA is more than 10 % lower than normal average rate of their group of age died from mulmonary cancer instead fo those which DHEA rate was better than average didn't have any tumour phenomenon.

DHEA IS A NATURAL PRODUCT...

DHEA, natural hormon, is used by the body according to its needs, that's why it's reasonably possible to think that complements to dosages recommanded are not toxic and are in any case much more sure than dose of hormons or synthetic steroïds.
Activ on multiple fields, DHEA is going to prouve its total innocousness, what cannot claim synthetic hormons (remaking no synergic) classed wrongly byr reducing minds in the same category than DHEA.

DHEA is produced in laboratory from saponine plant origin named Diosgenine. Human body doesn't have enough enzymes to make this conversion. The allegations about products stimulating "naturally" the production of DHEA are devoid of any foundation.
How is it possible so to find or make it naturally if the organism does'nt make it anymore ?
Several sources and helps :
- Plant hormons :
To produce DHEA, it is necessary to extract many others génine, peptides and enzyms, to carry on an efficient synthesis of the hormon. Although other sources of plant steroïds are easily available to reach these aims - as soja seeds, agave and yucca - wild yam constitutes the most concentrated source known and used.
Among those important uses of wild yam root, we can mention precursors and phytopharmacomimetrics substances of DHEA. Wild yams DIOSCOREA could so be used as precursors of DHEA because the sterols they keep naturally are transformed to lead to hormon.
- Squalene (in shark liver oil) - of which good effects on health are rather closes to DHEA and being speciallay a tremendous anti-oxydant.
In fact squalene, -present also in olive oil - is a precursor of DHEA. To be activ, it must got first a sulfurization (sulfur addition). This operation brings in the mésencéphale, hypophysis and thymus. DHEA paralyses the enzyme glucose-6-phosphate deshydrogenase, very important for agressiv dynamics in the cancerous cell. For that case, DHEA prevents from transforming normal cells into malignant cells caused by carcinogenic virus. Blood rate of DHEA can be dosed. It has to exceed 3,3 mg/litre. It goes sometimes under 0,1 mg/litre on people having cancer...
- Homeopathy has some results restoring more a balance instead of stimulating.
So organotherapy (adrenals 4CH to reactivate exhausted adrenals) or more pineal 4CH...

.. NOT PATENTABLE, NOT PROFITABLE !!
Marketing of DHEA hormon is not yet allowed in France (question of reimbursing by Social Security is one of evident brake) in opposite to United States where it is sold since 1992 as food complement - without prescription - in all type of shops and with several brands very often created for this circumstance...

It is easy for Professor BAULIEU to speak about doutful amount of some american DHEA (easily available on internet), and forgetting that in Europe, wellknown and serious laboratories that produce DHEA and supply a lot of bio pharmacies

Natural product not patentable, not profitable (no investment return for market research), we can understand why pharmaceutical industry shows that same half-heartedness that on many other natural matters (amino acids, vitamins, minerals).
It is all a « system » that is involved ; pursuit of of profit and industrial protectionnism opposed to research of welfare, health, balance and prevention.
